Pray daily for pastors in the Slavic countries (as well as your own) that they will have wisdom and power from God to preach the Word effectually and to care for all of the saints. Pray that the convicting power of the Holy Spirit will accompany the preaching of God’s Word throughout all lands. Ask God to stir up Christians to use their God-given freedom to the fullest advantage in making known everywhere the Gospel of Jesus Christ. “Freely ye have received, freely give” (Matthew 10:8). |
The Apostle Peter also taught believers to be beneficial examples to the church. “For you have been called to this purpose, since Christ also suffered for you, leaving you an example for you to follow in His steps” (1 Peter 2:21). He specifically exhorted leaders to be “examples to the flock” (1 Peter 5:3).
Likewise, the Apostle Paul encouraged the believers to “walk by the same rule” and to “be of the same mind” (Philippians 3:16). They were to join in following His “example, and note those who so walk, as you have us for a pattern” (Philippians 3:17). To another group of believers, Paul said, “Imitate me, just as I imitate Christ” (1 Corinthians 11:1). “Therefore, I urge you, imitate me” (1 Corinthians 4:11). Paul always sought to be an example in his attitudes and actions. Leaders are to be models for others, “that you might follow our example” (2 Thessalonians 3:9).
To the next generation of Christians, Paul clearly taught the principle of being a pious pattern. Paul exhorted Timothy to “be an example to the believers in word, in conduct, in love, in spirit, in faith, in purity” (1 Timothy 4:12) And he encouraged Titus to show himself in all things “a pattern of good works” (Titus 2:7).
Intercede for the national missionaries of Slavic Missionary Service (as well as the missionaries here in the states) that they will be examples that are worthy to be called sons and daughters of the living God. Pray that the Holy Spirit will help them to honor and glorify God always to be examples “in deed and truth” (1 John 3:18).
