God wants all believers to know His will in their daily lives. Pray especially for young people who are seeking God's plan for their lives. May they be "strong in the Lord and in the power of His might" (Ephesians 6:10). As they seek to serve the Lord in different vocations, pray that they will "put on the whole armor of God" and that they "may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil" (Ephesians 6:11). |
Christians are to be a joyous people. “Rejoice in the Lord always; again I will say, rejoice!” (Philippians 4:4). Many of the national workers of Slavic Missionary Service continue to endure tremendous toil and tough trials during this time of turmoil. But they are expressing joy, because they are experiencing God’s presence, protection and power. “Consider it all joy, my brethren, when you encounter various trials, knowing that the testing of your faith produces endurance” (James: 1:2-3).
After three years of serving people with humanitarian and spiritual aid, some of the SMS workers have been summoned to enter into the ceaseless conflict, but God has been gracious to keep all of them exactly where they are serving Him faithfully, fearfully and fruitfully. For these merciful miracles, SMS is truly thankful.
Some missionaries have become weary of enduring an endless war without any conclusion in sight; but they have not become weary in well-doing. All have remained steadfast in their call from Christ. They press forward proclaiming hope and help that can only be found in Jesus. As wonderful examples during this time, three SMS missionary wives have been committed in conducting conferences, retreats and seminars especially for women who have been deeply affected by the devastation of war.
Although depths of despair may be experienced in life from time to time, God’s grace will deliver His devoted disciple from dismal darkness to the glorious light of understanding and delight. “Your sorrow will be turned into joy” (John 16:20). Jesus promised, “I will see you again and your heart will rejoice, and no one takes your joy away from you” (John 16:22). May God specifically help His children in Slavic lands to endure difficult times with patience and perseverance, knowing that He is near and dear to those who trust in Him implicitly. “Weeping may last for the night, but a shout of joy comes in the morning” (Psalm 30:5).
