God wants all believers to know His will in their daily lives. Pray especially for young people who are seeking God's plan for their lives. May they be "strong in the Lord and in the power of His might" (Ephesians 6:10). As they seek to serve the Lord in different vocations, pray that they will "put on the whole armor of God" and that they "may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil" (Ephesians 6:11). |

Believers in the New Testament were men and women just like people today in the twenty-first century. They had to work for themselves in order to live in this world. Peter, Andrew, James and John were fishermen (Mark 1:16, 19). Matthew was a tax collector (Matthew 10:3). Lydia was a business woman (Acts 16:14). Luke was a physician (Colossians 4:14). Paul, Aquila and Priscilla were tentmakers (Acts 18:2-3).
But those individuals, likewise, knew that they had work to do for God in this world. While Jesus prepared the twelve apostles, as well as others, to do this work, many supported Him during this time, including Mary Magdalene, Joanna and Susanna (Luke 8:2-3). The servants of the Savior, who must stretch their service to the ends of the earth, relied on others when necessary for help and hospitality.
Believers understand that the work of God also includes work for others. Caring for others, sharing with others and preparing others in order to meet God is the primary goal of called, chosen and consecrated Christians that have accepted Christ’s commission. When dedicated to the work, God decides the way for the disciple who has declared openness to outreach whenever, wherever and to whomever. Slavic Missionary Service has been delighted to support such workers for God in Slavic countries.
Since 1992-1993, religious expression has been acknowledged and allowed in the former Soviet Union (with some restrictions). SMS immediately took advantage of this turn of events and asked God to help find those believers that could erect new churches, edify new Christians and evangelize their communities with the Gospel. To God belongs all the glory for such tremendous spiritual success! But there is still work to accomplish.
Many still need to hear about Jesus Christ in the Slavic world. Pray that the SMS missionaries will work for themselves and their families as a unit that believes in God, receives from God and achieves for God. Pray also that the SMS missionaries will work for God bringing others to hear the true Gospel, revere the true God and draw near to God in true repentance and reconciliation.
