All believers are entrusted with stewardship. With such fruitful examples as “half of the goods” of Zacchaeus (Luke 19:8) and the “two small copper coins” of a widow (Luke 21:2), the church can stand fortified on the foundation of the Lord Jesus Christ to function effectively and effectually.
Genuine believers work together in the Christian church, because all are indwelt, inspired and instructed by “one and the same Spirit” who distributes gracious gifts and talents “to each one individually as He wills (1 Corinthians 12:11). All believers are to be engaged with sharing the Good News of salvation.
Every Christian is a witness to the way, the will and the works of God. The impact of evangelism may not be seen immediately, but Almighty God always is intervening behind the scenes profoundly and providentially. God’s children, therefore, must be involved.
All believers are to be equipped for service. Every Christian in the congregation is called to assist in the building of “the church of the living God, the pillar and support of the truth” (1 Timothy 3:15). No talent or task is too inferior or too insignificant in service. Every saint is responsible for “building up the body of Christ” (Ephesians 4:12) whether “speaking the truth in love” (Ephesians 4:15) or “serving one another as good stewards of the multifaceted grace of God” (1 Peter 4:10) or shepherding “the church of God” (Acts 20:28). How important it is for believers “to stir up one another in love and good deeds” (Hebrews 10:24)!

God’s strategy for world evangelism calls for two equally important elements: Co-missionaries and Go-missionaries, the senders and the sent, the supporters and the workers. A Christian church without missionary enthusiasm is a contradiction. God depends upon the faithful testimony of His people for the evangelization of the world. The Savior expects those who have tasted the sweetness of salvation to spread the news far and wide. He has commissioned His children to share His Word to the lost in every country. |
