Slavic Missionary Service

In the Word of God nothing is clearer than the longsuffering of God which seeks and waits for individuals to repent of their sins before His holiness requires judgment for those sins. He rises to judgment only when iniquity is full. Pray daily that many sinners will find cleansing through the blood of Jesus Christ. Intercede earnestly for unsaved individuals that they will come to God by the “new and living way” (Hebrews 10:20). Pray for the SMS missionaries that they would rise to any occasion to proclaim the Good News “that Christ Jesus came into the world to save sinners” (1 Timothy 1:15).

Prayer is the mightiest force which the church can exercise in this day and age. Entreat God to help all His children become praying Christians.

Pray for God-given laborers in the undermanned fields of the world. Slavic Missionary Service seeks prayerfully and persistently to spread the Gospel, as far as possible in the Slavic countries, and by every means possible with steadfast determination in order that SMS “might by all means same some” (1 Corinthians 9:22).

Pray that the workers of SMS perceive the will of God and press forward “to please Him in all respects” (Colossians 1:10) and be profitable for service. Beseech God to help them make progress in their Christian lives and be increasingly endued with His glorious power.

Through their service, pray that the SMS missionaries will be enlightened, encouraged, enriched and established in Christ and in His Word. For the Lord and for His work, may each SMS worker walk uprightly, work unselfishly and speak unceasingly. Pray that God will give the SMS workers obedient hearts to perform His plan and proclaim His precepts. “Lord, what will You have me to do?” (Acts 9:6).

Most of all ask God to help them to have patience in every area of ministry. Pray that they be filled with praise acknowledging “the manifold grace of God” (1 Peter 4:10). As the Lord Jesus strengthens the believer through His Word and through prayer, He plants in the heart concern for others. Intercede on behalf of the SMS workers that they may have passion for the salvation of souls and the sanctification of the saints.

Pray that our national missionaries will be greatly used of the Holy Spirit to declare and distribute the truth of the Gospel. Ask for special physical and spiritual protection as they labor for the Lord. Pray that Christian workers facing discouraging problems may realize afresh the vastness of God’s power at their disposal. Supplication is requested by SMS national missionaries that God will guide them in the search of spiritual men and women who will become future leaders in the churches, colleges, seminaries and religious organizations in their respective countries.

Pray that governments opposed to the sharing of the Gospel will grant freedom for the distribution and declaration of the Word of God. Intercede for believers suffering persecution that the grace of God may be sufficient.

Churches in Oryol, Russia and Polotsk, Belarus continue to be built. Pray that funds will be received to complete these structures.

Beseech the Lord to give to Christian young people discernment to know and desire to do that which pleases Him. Pray for full spiritual resources for young people in Bible colleges and seminaries preparing for the Lord’s work.

Pray that God’s children will have discernment to recognize the wiles of the devil and with God’s help resist any temptation. Pray that they may know the triumph of Christ in their daily lives. Pray that new converts to Christ may be faithful students of His word and grow in grace and knowledge.

Let us not be pessimistic about the future! We labor together with God. His supreme purpose to ransom among the nations a remnant for His name will be realized. We are, therefore, more than conquerors “through Him who loved us” (Romans 8:37). Evangelization will continue until the Lord returns for His completed church.

May the devastating changes occurring in the word not deter us from faithful intercession for the witness of the church worldwide, nor from the support of missionaries called by God to share Christ with a world in need. “Therefore, let everyone who is godly pray to Thee in a time when Thou mayest be found; surely in a flood of great waters they shall not reach him. Thou art my hiding place; Thou dost preserve me from trouble; Thou dost surround me with songs of deliverance” (Psalm 32:6-7). Ask God to open every door of opportunity throughout the world to spread His Word. Powerful invisible hosts oppose this petition. To obtain answers, believers must wrestle in prayer.

For I resolved to know nothing while I was with you except Jesus Christ and him crucified.

Pray that the Gospel will reach the millions in the Slavic countries that have not yet heard what Christ has done for them. Many small cities and towns still do not have an official place of worship. Ask God to help the Slavic churches be effective witnesses in their neighborhoods. Pray that souls will continue to be saved, baptized and discipled through the ministries of the church. Pray that the Holy Spirit powerfully and persistently will convict men of sin and lead many to believe that Jesus Christ is the Savior of the world.
