Pray daily for pastors in the Slavic countries (as well as your own) that they will have wisdom and power from God to preach the Word effectually and to care for all of the saints. Pray that the convicting power of the Holy Spirit will accompany the preaching of God’s Word throughout all lands. Ask God to stir up Christians to use their God-given freedom to the fullest advantage in making known everywhere the Gospel of Jesus Christ. “Freely ye have received, freely give” (Matthew 10:8). |
One significant feature in the Holy Scriptures concerning the relationship of the Creator and the Christian is the symbolism of the His good hand. “Both riches and honor come from Thee, and Thou dost rule over all, and in Thy hand is power and might; and it lies in Thy hand to make great, and strengthen everyone” (1 Chronicles 29:12).The hand of God guides the believer always in all ways. The hand of God guards against evil agitations and evil aggression. And the hand of God gives grace to accomplish great things for His glory. It is extremely important and necessary for the good hand of God to rest upon the Christian in all endeavors.
The Bible encourages the believer to behold the “hand of God” on David, Elijah, Ezekiel, Ezra and Nehemiah in the Old Testament (1 Chronicles 28:19; 1 Kings 18;46; Ezekiel 1:3; 3:14, 22; 8:1; 33:22; 37:1; 40:1; Ezra 7:6, 9, 28; 8:18, 22; Nehemiah 2:8, 18), as well as Jesus, Paul and the disciples in the New Testament (Luke 1:66; John 10:29; Acts 11:21; 13:11). These individuals were able to function faithfully, because power was granted through God’s good hand to work and worship.
Believers are to humble themselves under the great and mighty hand of God (1 Peter 5:6; Matthew 23:11-12; Luke 14:11). Under God’s good hand, they are to heed His Word and His ways (Jeremiah 18:6; Psalm 139:10). And believers are to hope in the gracious hand of God, as help comes for every trial, testing or task (Psalm 18:35, 60:5; 108:5-6; 138:7; 144:7).
How rewarding it is when the good hand of God rests upon the righteous believer! In order to fulfill the Lord’s will, He must be acknowledged, accepted and active in every aspect of the Christian’s life. May the good hand of God bless each born-again individual, as He holds, helps and harmonizes all happenings to bring honor and glory to His name! Pray that the good hand of God may be seen on the missionaries of Slavic Missionary Service, as they serve the Lord and Savior Jesus in their respective countries. And may each believer pray like Jabez, “Oh that You would greatly bless me... and that Your hand might be with me” (1 Chronicles 4:10).
