Pray daily for pastors in the Slavic countries (as well as your own) that they will have wisdom and power from God to preach the Word effectually and to care for all of the saints. Pray that the convicting power of the Holy Spirit will accompany the preaching of God’s Word throughout all lands. Ask God to stir up Christians to use their God-given freedom to the fullest advantage in making known everywhere the Gospel of Jesus Christ. “Freely ye have received, freely give” (Matthew 10:8). |
The workers of Slavic Missionary Service (and others) are demonstrating charity and compassion during this ceaseless and incessant warfare between Russia and Ukraine. Every week, care packages are assembled and packed into large vehicles. Then, a few volunteers transport these needed items to places that have been most affected by tumult and tragedy.
Included with the humanitarian aid are New Testaments, children’s Bibles, and spiritual tracts. These opportunities have given the church multiple avenues in sharing the message of salvation. To be God’s instrument in winning souls to Jesus Christ is the most worthwhile privilege given to a believer. Because believers have found God to be a “refuge in the day of distress” (Jeremiah 16:19), they can share the reality of their faith during this discouraging, difficult time. Restoration and reconciliation are granted when the individual reaches out to God, repents of sin, and relies on the work of Christ on the cross for redemption.
As the SMS missionaries show compassion to the refugees that cross their paths, pray that their conversation and conduct will bring honor and glory to the name of Jesus Christ. Many in Ukraine are deep in discouragement and despair. Intercede for the many volunteers that their actions will lead many to God who can be their refuge during this time. “God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble” (Psalm 46:1).
Pray also that God will be a refuge to those who are traveling to dangerous and devastated areas with humanitarian aid. “Keep me safe, for in You I take refuge (Psalm 16:1). Consider assisting the continuation of these care packages with a contribution. Send to Slavic Missionary Service at P.O.
