Slavic Missionary Service

In the Word of God nothing is clearer than the longsuffering of God which seeks and waits for individuals to repent of their sins before His holiness requires judgment for those sins. He rises to judgment only when iniquity is full. Pray daily that many sinners will find cleansing through the blood of Jesus Christ. Intercede earnestly for unsaved individuals that they will come to God by the “new and living way” (Hebrews 10:20). Pray for the SMS missionaries that they would rise to any occasion to proclaim the Good News “that Christ Jesus came into the world to save sinners” (1 Timothy 1:15).

The church community is rightly concerned that children grow into individuals of strong faith. “Train up a child in the way he should go, and when he is old he will not depart from it” (Proverbs 22:6). Parents that practice genuine Christianity dedicate their children to God and determine to be good and godly examples before them.

The evidence of Christlikeness must first be revealed in the lives of adults. Nothing so convinces a child of the reality of God and the worth of the Gospel of Jesus Christ, as to see a father, mother, pastor or Sunday school teacher actively expressing real faith and experiencing the fruits of righteousness.

Another area where children can respond to the benefits and blessings of Christianity is in the Bible summer camp. With a consecrated team of counselors, a qualified staff and an important bible theme, the summer camping program can give children the opportunity to experience the Christian way of living in a different setting.

During times of participation, as well as relaxation, children learn how to comingle, cooperate and correlate with others within the principles of Christianity. Even during this time of warring upheaval and chaos, the missionaries of Slavic Missionary Service in Belarus, Moldova, Russia and Ukraine have been able to conduct Bible camps for children and youth. SMS praises the Lord that the Christian workers are including children and young people in their outreach for Christ.

The discouraging and disparaging effects of war can hamper the development of healthy children; therefore these summer programs provide a much needed retreat away from the tension and tragedy. Praise God that Christian workers are diligently sharing the realities of love, joy, peace and hope, which only can be found in a personal relationship with Jesus Christ. “Young men and maidens together; old men and children! Let them praise the name of the Lord, for His name alone is exalted; His majesty is above earth and heaven” (Psalm 148:12-13). May God continue to give His church hearts of compassion for the children of the world!

He who dwells in the shelter of the Most High will rest in the shadow of the Almighty. I will say of the LORD, "He is my refuge and my fortress, my God, in whom I trust."

Pray that the Gospel will reach the millions in the Slavic countries that have not yet heard what Christ has done for them. Many small cities and towns still do not have an official place of worship. Ask God to help the Slavic churches be effective witnesses in their neighborhoods. Pray that souls will continue to be saved, baptized and discipled through the ministries of the church. Pray that the Holy Spirit powerfully and persistently will convict men of sin and lead many to believe that Jesus Christ is the Savior of the world.
