Slavic Missionary Service

Pray daily for pastors in the Slavic countries (as well as your own) that they will have wisdom and power from God to preach the Word effectually and to care for all of the saints. Pray that the convicting power of the Holy Spirit will accompany the preaching of God’s Word throughout all lands. Ask God to stir up Christians to use their God-given freedom to the fullest advantage in making known everywhere the Gospel of Jesus Christ. “Freely ye have received, freely give” (Matthew 10:8).

This year, when Slavik Trots, SMS missionary in Ukraine and Volyn Regional Pastor, attended a conference here in America, he was able to travel to Bradenton, Florida for a special purpose. Leon and Ann Chechowich, SMS missionaries and former International Field Coordinator, received a surprise visit from Slavik.

While fellowshipping together and reminiscing about past experiences in Lutsk, Ukraine and the surrounding areas, Slavik presented to Leon a plaque from the SMS missionaries of Ukraine. The plaque was an acknowledgement of Leon as a “servant of SMS International, whose loving and faithful ministry inspires us in serving God.”

The plague also expressed appreciation for Leon’s sacrificial service in spiritual ministry. “We appreciate your dedication to our Savior in missionary work in Ukraine. Your outstanding ministry has brought much fruit for God’s glory.”

How extremely blessed is SMS to have such faithful missionaries as Leon and Ann! Their steadfast walk in the Christian life and their stability in Christian ministry since 1953 truly is an example to all the staff and missionaries of SMS worldwide.

Leon and Ann continued to serve the Lord Jesus through SMS in a smaller capacity but still with large results! Pray that God will strengthen them to continue to present the ministries of SMS to their immediate circle of contacts in Florida, as well as all the contacts developed in many states throughout the years of service.

No one has ever seen God; but if we love one another, God lives in us and his love is made complete in us.

Never wait for the lost soul to approach you and ask about the way to salvation. He or she seldom comes. The method of our Lord Jesus was to seek the lost. “For the Son of Man has come to seek and to save that which was lost” (Luke 19:10). All around us are opportunities to witness about “new life” in Christ, if the believer will allow the Holy Spirit to assist him in sharing that marvelous message. People should be given a choice. Pray that all of the SMS missionaries will present the Gospel to anyone who is willing to listen to the “Good News.”
