Apprehend that which is attainable

Pray that God will fill the Slavic believers with a hunger for His Word: "Desire the sincere milk of the Word" (1 Peter 2:2), and a spirit of prayer: "Pray without ceasing" (1 Thessalonians 5:17). Ask God to call many young men and women to serve Him sacrificially and sincerely in places of leadership. Pray that some will choose to serve in other Slavic countries as missionaries. Intercede for the Christian leadership in Eastern Europe that they will withstand the powers of darkness and remain stable in their spiritual roles.

Midweek services are now conducted in the new building of the First Baptist Church of Lvov, Ukraine. Pastor Volodimir Overko and the membership of 180 praise God that they can now honor and glorify His Son, Jesus Christ, in their own place of worship. Although Sunday services are still held at the Central Church in the afternoon, Pastor Overko trusts that services will be held in the new auditorium in the summer of 2014.

At this time, the outside walls must be insulated and the façade must be finished. Once the work on the exterior is concluded, the next phase will be the completion of the auditorium. Praise God for those stewards who have donated funds for this project, as well as the membership of the church, who have sacrificially given each week to finish their place of worship.

The final phase will be the completion of the kitchen, dining hall and Sunday school rooms. Church planting continues to be a major focus of the overseas ministry of SMS. "And the Lord added to the church daily such as should be saved" (Acts 2:47).

Pray that the Gospel will reach the millions in the Slavic countries that have not yet heard what Christ has done for them. Many small cities and towns still do not have an official place of worship. Ask God to help the Slavic churches be effective witnesses in their neighborhoods. Pray that souls will continue to be saved, baptized and discipled through the ministries of the church. Pray that the Holy Spirit powerfully and persistently will convict men of sin and lead many to believe that Jesus Christ is the Savior of the world.
