A leader must be a sacrificial servant willing to do whatever necessary “for Christ’s sake” (2 Corinthians 12:10) or go wherever necessary in order to build the body of Christ and advance the message of salvation. He must truly care for Christians and exhibit a “concern for all the churches” (2 Corinthians 11:28).
A leader must be a stable servant, whose conduct matches his creed. The man of God who is consistent in His faith can say with the Apostle Paul, “Be imitators of me, just as I also am of Christ” (1 Corinthians 11:1). When the indwelling Christ embodies the character, conduct, conversation, conscience and creed of the Christian leader, then that leader becomes a well-rounded and well-balanced servant of God.
A leader must be a submissive servant, as he reaches, teaches and preaches to others the message of salvation. “For if I preach the gospel, that gives me no ground for boasting. For necessity is laid upon me. Woe to me if I do not preach the gospel!” (1 Corinthians 9:16). The missionary’s thoughts, tongue and talents must be given to God completely so that He may be glorified in all attitudes and actions. Fruitful service requires full surrender to God and a life yielded without any regrets or reservations.
Slavic Missionary Service is privileged to assist such leaders who are serving the Lord Jesus Christ as national missionaries in Belarus, Moldova, Russia and Ukraine. Many are pastors of local churches. Some are also evangelists over specific regions, and others are regional superintendents overseeing a group of churches.
As the Scriptures exhort, SMS desires to “hold… in high regard” such dedicated disciples (Philippians 2:29). And SMS thanks the Lord Jesus Christ, who has “strengthened” these men and has considered them “faithful, putting (them) into service” (1 Timothy 1:12). Therefore, pray for these men, as they exhort nonbelievers to accept the Lord Jesus as Savior from sin, equip believers to serve the Lord Jesus Christ and expand their ministries through the outreach of evangelism and edification.

God’s strategy for world evangelism calls for two equally important elements: Co-missionaries and Go-missionaries, the senders and the sent, the supporters and the workers. A Christian church without missionary enthusiasm is a contradiction. God depends upon the faithful testimony of His people for the evangelization of the world. The Savior expects those who have tasted the sweetness of salvation to spread the news far and wide. He has commissioned His children to share His Word to the lost in every country. |
