God wants all believers to know His will in their daily lives. Pray especially for young people who are seeking God's plan for their lives. May they be "strong in the Lord and in the power of His might" (Ephesians 6:10). As they seek to serve the Lord in different vocations, pray that they will "put on the whole armor of God" and that they "may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil" (Ephesians 6:11). |
The Resurrection Church recently celebrated twenty-five years of worship and service to the Lord in Borovliany, Belarus. After renting an auditorium for many years, Slavic Missionary Service remembers very fondly when an old post office was purchased in a prime location in Minsk. The construction project started quickly with much enthusiasm but soon waned because of problems and pressures from the authorities.
Because the official architect must be approved from the government during this time, the building was designed to parallel the catholic and orthodox churches already constructed. This required great amounts of money which could not be raised in a timely fashion. Therefore, the unfinished building and property were sold to another religious organization.
The Lord then led Slavic Missionary Service and the spiritual leaders of the church to a choice location in Borovoliany, a relatively new area adjacent to the capital of Belarus. Also, medical universities established themselves in this new city. Quickly, a functional structure was designed and built within two years. The auditorium was dedicated in 2017. Construction in the basement, which includes the kitchen, dining hall and three classrooms, still needs to be completed.
Pastor Sergey Drozd and Pastor Stas Bokun (SMS missionaries) praise God for this place of worship that allows them to accomplish God’s will in Minsk and its surrounding areas. (Stanislav Bokun, the father of Stas, was the first pastor of Resurrection Church and was able to visit during the memorial celebration. Because of health factors and extenuating circumstances, he and his family emigrated from Belarus to the United States.) Resurrection Church now has 104 members and 50 children attending Sunday school classes.
“You also, as living stones, are being built up as a spiritual house for a holy priesthood, to offer up spiritual sacrifices acceptable to God through Jesus Christ” (1 Peter 2:5). Pray that God will help Resurrection Church to be a beacon and a benefit to their congregation, as well as the surrounding communities. “I was glad when they said unto me; Let us go into the house of the Lord” (Psalm 122:1).
