Now, five men are working on the facade. Only the front of the church has been presentable for many years. New windows were replaced in the church; and hopefully by the fall, all sides of the church will be completed and painted.
The Pridnestrovian Moldavian Republic continues to be a “country” of few jobs and little progress in industry. Because employment is hard to find, the sons of Peter and Tanya Korotash are working in other countries. David, their oldest son, is working in Russia and Victor, their second oldest son is working in Germany. Vladislav, their youngest son, became the champion of bicycling in Moldova this year and is now training in Italy. Their daughter, Sveta, has found employment in Bendery as a nurse.
As regional pastor, Peter is responsible for the churches in the whole region of Transnistria. There are only nine official pastors in this territory, and two will be ordained in the fall. Many churches lack a full-time pastor; therefore, deacons in some of the churches are performing the pastoral duties.
The interim director of SMS was able to travel with Pastor Korotash from one end of Pridnestrovie (Krasnoe) to the other end (Kamenka). God’s strategy for world evangelism calls for two equally important elements: Co-missionaries and Go-missionaries, the senders and the sent, the supporters and the workers. A Christian church without missionary enthusiasm is a contradiction. God depends upon the faithful testimony of His people for the evangelization of the world. The Savior expects those who have tasted the sweetness of salvation to spread the news far and wide. He has commissioned His children to share His Word to the lost in every country. |
