Dedication of Resurrection Church

God wants all believers to know His will in their daily lives. Pray especially for young people who are seeking God's plan for their lives. May they be "strong in the Lord and in the power of His might" (Ephesians 6:10). As they seek to serve the Lord in different vocations, pray that they will "put on the whole armor of God" and that they "may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil" (Ephesians 6:11).

It seems like only yesterday when Slavic Missionary Service participated in the building program of the Gospel Light Church and Minsk Theological Seminary in Minsk, Belarus. The year was 1992, and SMS enthusiastically decided to join the daunting task of planting new churches in Belarus (as well as in Russia, Ukraine and Moldova). Since that time, SMS has delighted in seeing churches dot the landscape in such areas as Borisov, Gomel, Kobrin, Novopolotosk and Polotsk, Belarus. Working with the Belarus Baptist Union, SMS began to support national workers who would organize and officiate over these outstanding projects. “So the churches were being strengthened in the faith, and were increasing in number daily” (Acts 16:5).

For the last few years, it has been difficult to raise funds and start new projects or even complete ongoing projects. “Looking at them, Jesus said, with people it is impossible, but not with God; for all things are possible with God” (Mark 10:27). Slavic Missionary Service is now pleased to announce that the Resurrection Church in Borovliany, a suburb of Minsk, has been dedicated on June 25, 2017. Leaders from the Belarus Baptist Union, as well as friends from the United States, came together to celebrate this monumental occasion.

The property was purchased in November of 2013, and construction on the foundation started in May of 2014. The Resurrection Church has been renting a basement room in the Minsk Theological Seminary, but now all activities will take place at the new property. Although work still needs to be completed inside the church building, the leadership and membership are overjoyed that they now have a stable place to worship and serve the Lord Jesus Christ.

Many new residential and commercial buildings are being constructed in this growing district of Minsk. Therefore, pray for the congregation of the Resurrection Church, as they begin to develop ways to evangelize the city. “And He said to them, go into all the world and preach the gospel to all creation” (Mark 16:15). Opportunities to witness abound in Borovliany, which includes the Minsk Central Regional Hospital, the Centre for Pediatric Oncology, Hematology and Immunology, and the WWII Veterans Hospital.

If anyone desires to assist the Resurrection Church with a donation to finish the kitchen, dining hall and Sunday school rooms, please send your contributions to Slavic Missionary Service, PO Box 469, Annandale, NJ 08801. “Each one must do just as he has purposed in his heart, not grudgingly or under compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver” (2 Corinthians 9:7). Praise God for opportunities to support ministries that are sharing the good news of salvation.

If anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; the old has gone, the new has come!

2 Corinthians 5:17

With a heart of compassion, pray for the salvation of souls on each of the continents of the world. Pray that the Gospel of Jesus Christ will spread to the seven billion people throughout the world. "The Lord… is not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance" (2 Peter 3:9). Ask God to strengthen you to be a witness for Him wherever you are and in whatever you do!
