Pray daily for pastors in the Slavic countries (as well as your own) that they will have wisdom and power from God to preach the Word effectually and to care for all of the saints. Pray that the convicting power of the Holy Spirit will accompany the preaching of God’s Word throughout all lands. Ask God to stir up Christians to use their God-given freedom to the fullest advantage in making known everywhere the Gospel of Jesus Christ. “Freely ye have received, freely give” (Matthew 10:8). |
God’s plan for this age is to reach the unsaved for Christ through human instruments like you and me. “We are laborers together with God” (1 Corinthians 3:9). As followers of Jesus Christ, Christianity brings us face to face with the fact that we have good news, joyful tidings to proclaim to a needy world of people that are in danger of spiraling into spiritual death and that are starving for the bread of life.
Person to person is the best and most effective method of witnessing about one’s faith in Jesus Christ. There may be times when it would perhaps be inappropriate to give a verbal witness, but there is never a wrong time for one to give a quiet, effective and powerful witness as the salt of the earth and the light of the world. This type of living will most definitely provide many opportunities in turn to give a verbal witness.
To be obedient to Christ and a blessing to others, a believer must communicate verbally concerning the grace and mercy of God. “For we cannot but speak the things which we have seen and heard” (Acts 4:20). God desires that His children continuously be engaged in reaching the unreached and unsaved by proclaiming the Gospel of redeeming love.
The Holy Spirit dwells in the heart of each believer. The Holy Spirit will fill the believer’s heart with love for Christ and a lost world. Cooperation with the Holy Spirit is necessary for witnessing. He will lead us at the proper time and to the proper place. Because of the power of the Holy Spirit, the early Christians crossed racial and religious barriers to tell the Good News of God’s love.
The Holy Spirit led the church at Antioch to ordain and commission Paul and Barnabas to go as the first foreign missionaries to proclaim the Gospel of Jesus Christ. “Set apart for Me Barnabas and Saul for the work to which I have called them” (Acts 13:2). All Christians cannot go to the foreign field, but every believer is responsible to share the good news of Christ to those people who know nothing about this great salvation. “But God demonstrates His own love toward us, in that while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us. Much more then, having now been justified by His blood, we shall be saved from the wrath of God through Him” (Romans 5:8-9).
The Great Commission should be considered in its extensive and international scope. The living Lord wanted His disciples to go into every nation of the world with the Good News of salvation. May God help all believers to recognize their responsibility in the continuing work of rescuing men from the ruin of sin. May the offering of His Son for the sake of sinners inspire us to offer ourselves as living sacrifices for His service and offer our substance for His work in the world.
