Missionaries around the world recognize that God’s work, if it is to succeed, must be undergirded with the spiritual support of prayer. Missionaries also understand that God’s work is spread throughout the world through the financial support of believers. Slavic Missionary Service is grateful to God for the cooperation of many contributors, who spiritually and financially support people and projects in Slavic countries.

The donations of donors allow everyone to work together for worthwhile aims. This faithful participation of patrons enables the missionaries to accomplish their God-given ministries and encourages them also to cooperate spiritually and financially with others of like faith.

Some contributors have recently donated for construction projects. Small congregations cannot quickly raise funds to improve or expand their places of worship or properties. Instead of waiting “years” to implement new ministries, the members can now concentrate on inviting different age-groups to Christian activities and Bible studies specifically geared for them.

Other contributors are giving so that SMS missionaries can travel to other countries where it is difficult to share or spread the Gospel. Twice a year with a small volunteer team, two Ukrainian missionaries travel to Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan to provide instruction in ministerial training, organizational skills and outreach ministries. Another Belarusian missionary travels to Azerbaijan and Georgia to teach courses on pastoral leadership and family counseling.

Finally, SMS is extremely thankful for those contributors who consistently give to missionary families in Belarus, Moldova, Russia and Ukraine so that the husband is able freely to tackle the spiritual tasks set before him. Some of these missionaries have been faithfully serving the Savior in various ministries since the disbandment of the former Soviet Union in 1991.

Slavic Missionary Service has prospered as a faithful facilitator to the Slavic world for 86 years because of the support of friends and families in many dependable and devoted churches. Thank God for faithful, generous, optimistic Christians who think positively about missions! Pray that God will help every SMS missionary to give cheerfully and consistently his or her time, talents and treasures to accomplish great things for God. And pray that SMS will continue to provide spiritual and financial resources to missionaries that are fulfilling the Great Commission.
