As each attendee listens to the Bible study conveyed, different insights are articulated from believers who have experienced the grace of God in their lives. Soon, it is easier for guests not familiar with the Bible to ask questions or comment on the new information that they are learning. Of course, the Bible study should motivate everyone to apply the principles learned to everyday living. Personal growth is essential, as the Bible study progresses.
Many of the missionaries of Slavic Missionary Service are leading Bible studies for the members of their churches and for others in their communities. Friends, acquaintances and colleagues are invited to attend these relaxed gatherings and listen to people who are convinced that the Christian life is the best way to live. No pressure is placed upon these individuals to participate. Many times, it is the first time that individuals gain knowledge of the reality of Christianity in others.
“And let us consider how to stir up one another to love and good works, not neglecting to meet together, as is the habit of some, but encouraging one another, and all the more as you see the day drawing near” (Hebrews 10:24-25).
Pray that the SMS workers will remember that the Bible study is not just a social gathering. It is a time to emphasize the teachings of the Word of God and prayer. The main purpose should always be the opportunity to invite others who desire more information about the Bible and the depths of the Christian life. Ask God to help the leaders to utilize this effective method in leading people to a saving knowledge of the Lord Jesus Christ. Intercede on behalf of believers that they would grow in grace and knowledge by attending these meetings.
