Life in the Transfiguration Church

Pray that God will fill the Slavic believers with a hunger for His Word: "Desire the sincere milk of the Word" (1 Peter 2:2), and a spirit of prayer: "Pray without ceasing" (1 Thes. 5:17). Ask God to call many young men and women to serve Him sacrificially in places of leadership. Pray that some will choose to serve in other Slavic countries as missionaries. Intercede for the Christian leadership in Eastern Europe that they will withstand the powers of darkness and remain stable in their spiritual roles.

Valery Eroshkin, SMS missionary and pastor, brings greetings to all that pray and support the ministry of Transfiguration Church in Oryol, Russia. The church continues to grow with many unique activities. During the celebration of Easter 2018, many visitors attended the services. Also, in the month of April, the teens held a fair where homemade handcrafts and sweets were sold to the church members and community. The funds that were collected were sent to orphaned children in the country of Nepal.

In the month of May and in the month of June, cleanup days for the church were organized on two different Saturdays. Many members volunteered and participated in cleaning and renovating chores. There are plans to erect a new fence around the perimeter of the church territory.

The church is grateful to the Lord that the Sunday school ministry has increased in attendance this year. In June, the Sunday school classes finished for the summer and a special day was planned on the church grounds for the children with a trampoline and a “bouncy” slide. The students from the Sunday school, as well as many children from nearby homes and apartments, attended the joyous event. A dinner was provided for all the attendees and afterward, a puppet show was presented to the children.

Soon, the summer camping program will be conducted and there will be a baptism at the church for seven young men. Pray that God will help the staff and volunteers that are conducting the camping program to share the Gospel to those children who have never heard the Good News, as well as build up the young believers in their faith in Jesus Christ. And pray that the seven young men, who will be baptized, will grow in their knowledge of God and walk worthy of their calling in Christ Jesus.

Faith is being sure of what we hope for and certain of what we do not see. ... By faith we understand that the universe was formed at God's command, so that what is seen was not made out of what was visible.

Hebrews 11:1,3

The Lord will resume His dealing with the nations, as well as with the Chosen nation, when He has completed the church in this Age of Grace. God is working today “to take out” of the nations “a people for His name” (Acts 15:14). Ask God to empower every witness that is proclaiming this message of love to sinful men. Pray continually that the Holy Spirit will convict men of their need of Christ. “Neither is there salvation in any other; for there is none other name under heaven given among men, whereby we must be saved” (Acts 4:12).
