The Gorodets Baptist Church in Gorodets, Belarus has twenty-two members, ten children in Sunday school and ten young people in the youth group. Pastor Valery and Anna Ushchik, SMS missionaries, are grateful to the Lord for this evangelical church which is in their small town of 1,500 people. He and his wife seek to “shine for the Lord” in a community where everyone knows everyone.
During a combined baptism service in Kobrin, which is approximately ten miles from Gorodets, twenty-five were baptized from this large city and the surrounding towns. Two were baptized from the Gorodets Baptist Church. Pastor Ushchik praises God that the church membership is stable and slowly continues to grow.
Slavic Missionary Service understands that God is in control over the affairs of men. His grace can be seen working in large cities, as well as in small towns and villages. Pray that God will give SMS wisdom concerning the best strategic areas to support people and projects.

God’s strategy for world evangelism calls for two equally important elements: Co-missionaries and Go-missionaries, the senders and the sent, the supporters and the workers. A Christian church without missionary enthusiasm is a contradiction. God depends upon the faithful testimony of His people for the evangelization of the world. The Savior expects those who have tasted the sweetness of salvation to spread the news far and wide. He has commissioned His children to share His Word to the lost in every country. |
