God wants all believers to know His will in their daily lives. Pray especially for young people who are seeking God's plan for their lives. May they be "strong in the Lord and in the power of His might" (Ephesians 6:10). As they seek to serve the Lord in different vocations, pray that they will "put on the whole armor of God" and that they "may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil" (Ephesians 6:11). |
Rob Zapotoski, Interim Director of Slavic Missionary Service, was not only busy visiting the national missionaries while overseas, but also busy teaching many groups of believers in Ukraine and Belarus. Youth Ministry, the Minor Prophets and Leadership Training were the three course or topics that were discussed and emphasized. (Also, Rob shared a course on Music in the Church for two hours and a seminar on the book of Zechariah for two days.)
In Borislav, Ukraine the students were impressed with a personal story of God’s faithfulness in supplying to the teacher what was necessary for ministry – ten dollars. They decided to give a gift to the teacher so that he could continue his ministry in Ukraine and beyond. They gave just a little more – eleven dollars!
One of the leaders texted his friend in Lvov a message concerning the material that was presented in the class in Lutsk, Ukraine. The friend asked the leader to see if the teacher would be willing to send some of the leadership material so that he could teach it in his course at the seminary the following week. The teacher happily agreed. (The teacher in Lvov has been a friend of the interim director for many years.)
In Minsk, Belarus the young Bible students received a condensed course of the Minor Prophets in four days. Right in the middle of the course was a youth conference that they desired to attend. Of course, the teacher agreed to release them from their studies in order to attend this important conference focusing on relationships. Even though the week was crowded with many Biblical topics and principles, the students did well in their homework, oral reports and the final examination.
How important it is to utilize the gifts and talents that God gives to His children. With the power of the Holy Spirit, it is possible to be pleasing in God’s sight by serving Him with these abilities. Just as God assisted Rob in his teaching ministry, may He also assist each missionary of SMS to serve Him with the gifts that He has given. “Give instruction to a wise man, and he will be yet wiser: teach a just man, and he will increase in learning” (Proverbs 9:9).
