Opportunity to Assist a New Worker

God wants all believers to know His will in their daily lives. Pray especially for young people who are seeking God's plan for their lives. May they be "strong in the Lord and in the power of His might" (Ephesians 6:10). As they seek to serve the Lord in different vocations, pray that they will "put on the whole armor of God" and that they "may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil" (Ephesians 6:11).

The number of people who need to hear the Gospel is immeasurably greater than it was during the Lord’s time. “The harvest is plentiful” (Matthew 9:37), and laborers are needed to reap that harvest. Therefore, it is important for missions to be a top priority in the methodology of evangelical churches. Slavic Missionary Service has been supporting missionaries and projects in Russia, Ukraine, Belarus and Moldova since 1991. Opportunities abound to assist new workers, yet a lack of resources hinders the ability to support new workers.

One such worker is Yaroslav Stashchak in Borislav, Ukraine. Since 2010, Slava was the youth leader in his church and the director of “Awana,” a ministry designed specifically for children and youth. Slava was then elected in 2016 to be the youth director of the entire Lviv region and an evangelist in his hometown of Borislav, as well as the surrounding cities and small towns. For this past year, SMS has been assisting Yaroslav Stashchak in his ministry in the Lviv region of Ukraine with some financial support.

In addition to youth ministries, Slava conducts a small Bible study in his home. He also assists the prison ministry in his region by preaching and distributing spiritual literature. Occasionally, Slava preaches at his home church in Borislav. Slava has a master’s degree from the Polytechnic University in Lviv and a bachelor’s degree from the Ukrainian Baptist Theological Seminary (UBTS). He is now studying for his master’s degree at UBTS.

Pray that Slavic Missionary Service can continue to assist Slava in his work and possibly increase his support as donations are received. SMS considers the ministry of Slava as a worthy contribution to the Christian community in Lviv and beyond.

All a man's ways seem right to him, but the LORD weighs the heart.

Proverbs 21:2

With a heart of compassion, pray for the salvation of souls on each of the continents of the world. Pray that the Gospel of Jesus Christ will spread to the seven billion people throughout the world. "The Lord… is not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance" (2 Peter 3:9). Ask God to strengthen you to be a witness for Him wherever you are and in whatever you do!
