Fifteen handicapped children and their families came for three days to hear from the Bible the offer of salvation through the finished work of Jesus Christ on the cross. For many of these families, this time is the only opportunity that is offered for their children without cost. Many of the activities were specifically designed for the handicapped children to participate.

The children’s camp consisted of 55 children and 13 parents. A program for seven days was conducted for this group with emphasis on Jesus Chris as the way to heaven. The camp building has been enlarged in the last year to two stories. Much work needs to be completed, but the volunteer team was appreciative for more space on the second floor. This floor must be finished before the winter months.

Slavic Missionary Service is grateful to the Lord for this partnership with the Transfiguration Center in Bryansk. Many children have repented of their sins and turned to Christ for salvation through this ministry. A new dining hall has been constructed at the center and plans to finish the kitchen area are underway. Each week twenty-five to thirty children enter the center doors for affection and attention.

The center also has been working with older people addicted to drugs and alcohol. Many of them enter rehabilitation centers to rid their systems of the addiction; but there is no place for them to continue the process afterward with Christian principles. The temptation to return to the old lifestyle is prevalent. Therefore, the Transfiguration Center is seeking to expand their facilities to accommodate these former reformed addicts.
