Pray that God will fill the Slavic believers with a hunger for His Word: "Desire the sincere milk of the Word" (1 Peter 2:2), and a spirit of prayer: "Pray without ceasing" (1 Thessalonians 5:17). Ask God to call many young men and women to serve Him sacrificially and sincerely in places of leadership. Pray that some will choose to serve in other Slavic countries as missionaries. Intercede for the Christian leadership in Eastern Europe that they will withstand the powers of darkness and remain stable in their spiritual roles. |
You are on the mission field, child of God, whether or not you realize it. Without traveling overseas, here right at home, you live in one of the greatest fields of the entire world. The plain truth is that our country has been transformed into a vast mission field inhabited by an increasing amount of people who do not know the way of salvation.
Throughout the states, thousands of respected churches no longer proclaim the only true Gospel whereby men can reach heaven. Into many large cities pour thousands of immigrants totally ignorant of the good news of salvation. Because what the Bible teaches is not fully known, great religious systems boldly proclaim man-made traditions and ritualistic practices. The general ignorance of the Word of God causes declining moral standards and rising crime rates.
Within the midst of all this ignorance, God has placed his children as His missionaries. Individual believers should support the church in all its endeavors to reach lost souls. Every believer must witness in word and deed — holy living which testifies that the Spirit of God rules in the heart. In order to rescue the perishing, spiritual and financial resources must be offered freely and faithfully.
The Lord has given every believer the privilege of making Him known to those souls which are seen each and every day. Instead of deploring the way many people around us are wasting their lives, let us show them the best way to live. Give that person the choice of accepting Christ as Savior from sin!
