Every believer today is a messenger of Christ. And every Christian should be involved in missions. The missionary task is a worldwide enterprise. The church has been commissioned to send the Gospel to the ends of the earth. The commission of Christ was given to all Christians of all generations to make the Gospel known to all nations. It makes no difference wherever geographically, whether in your home country or overseas. The fact remains that every Christian is a missionary.
If God is willing that no souls should perish, then are you willing to reach those souls in order to stop them from perishing? The importance of missionaries cannot be minimized. What about you and missions?
Are you using the gift of communication with God in prayer on behalf of those souls who do not yet know Him as Lord and Savior? Are you using your lips to witness to those around you of the saving power of Jesus Christ? Are you using the means that God has given you to support those who are serving Him overseas? Are you willing to go yourself if God should call you to serve Him in some distant part of His vineyard?
You will not accomplish that which God wants you to accomplish unless you are fully devoted to Him and His work. Christ gives to you the wonderful assurance that He is present to empower you to share the Gospel. You do not carry out Jesus’ command alone to go into the world with the Good News. He has promised to be with you. The reality of forgiveness compels the Christian to share that news with those who are seeking freedom from sin. Confidence comes when the Christian is in a right relationship with His Savior and with others.
If God desires you to stay in your country and community, by all means, stay. Let nothing hinder you to reach that community with the Gospel for Christ’s sake. If God gives you grace to go to another country, by all means, go. It costs to be a missionary, but God showers with blessings and joy whether you witness to someone across the street or across the seas. The choice is yours!
