“Rejoice, young man, during your childhood, and let your heart be pleasant during the days of your young manhood. Remember also your Creator in the days of your youth, before the evil days come and you say, I have no delight in them” (Ecclesiastes 11:9; 12:1).
As children mature in years, the ability to understand right from wrong increases. Now, choices are deliberately made from a heart that can comprehend the consequences. Therefore, it is extremely important for young people to have good examples in their lives in order to help them recognize the benefit of making honest, honorable and healthy choices. “How can a young man keep his way pure? By keeping it according to Thy word” (Psalm 119:9).
The national workers of Slavic Missionary Service consider ministry with the youth significantly imperative. Seminars and conferences are conducted in Russia, Ukraine Belarus and Moldova specifically designed for young people throughout the year. And always in many cities and towns, effort is exerted to prepare and conduct a week long camping program in the summer just for the youth.
This past summer many camps were held for the youth. Each camp emphasizes a spiritual theme so that the youth will learn more about the Bible and the Christian life. Included in the program are sports, games, crafts and activities that concentrate around that designated theme. Also youth conferences were conducted in major cities with substantial results. “O God, Thou hast taught me from my youth; and I still declare Thy wondrous deeds” (Psalm 71:17).
Pray that the SMS missionaries will continue to communicate with those young people who have made commitments during summer camps or conferences. Ask God to help them to prove to the youth that the best decision that they can make is to follow Jesus Christ. “For Thou art my hope; O Lord God, Thou art my confidence from my youth” (Psalm 71:5).

God’s strategy for world evangelism calls for two equally important elements: Co-missionaries and Go-missionaries, the senders and the sent, the supporters and the workers. A Christian church without missionary enthusiasm is a contradiction. God depends upon the faithful testimony of His people for the evangelization of the world. The Savior expects those who have tasted the sweetness of salvation to spread the news far and wide. He has commissioned His children to share His Word to the lost in every country. |
