Pray that God will fill the Slavic believers with a hunger for His Word: "Desire the sincere milk of the Word" (1 Peter 2:2), and a spirit of prayer: "Pray without ceasing" (1 Thessalonians 5:17). Ask God to call many young men and women to serve Him sacrificially and sincerely in places of leadership. Pray that some will choose to serve in other Slavic countries as missionaries. Intercede for the Christian leadership in Eastern Europe that they will withstand the powers of darkness and remain stable in their spiritual roles. |
Dear Brothers and Sisters in Christ,
“For as the rain cometh down, and the snow from heaven, and returned not thither; but watereth the earth, and makes it bring forth and bud, that it may give seed to the sower, and bread to the eater: so shall My Word be that goes forth out of My mouth; it shall not return to Me void, but it shall accomplish that which I please, and it shall prosper in the thing whereto I sent it” (Isaiah 55:10-11).
These words are eternally true for us. It reminds us that in every season, God is still in control. Some of us have seen more ice storms instead of snow this past winter. After all, it is good to give thanks to God for whatever weather we receive.
The verses above were my husband Alex’s favorite. I hardly still believe that his departure to heavenly ground was almost three years ago. Our family says that the birthday of Alex will be more celebrated than his “home going.” It may be a more biblical view, because he is in heaven, and he is more alive than ever here. What a glorious hope because the Lord is risen indeed!
One day, not long ago in Brooklyn, New York, an elderly lady asked me if I knew who she was. She had met me a long time ago in Ladispoli, Italy. “I have now become a follower of the Lord Jesus, the true Messiah,” she proclaimed. “You offended me so badly when you helped me to the airport, as I was emigrating". I remember that we had been talking about the true Messiah.
“I got so upset with you then,” she blurted out. “You never knew how much that I wanted to forget about our talk.” But instead of forgetting, she became angry about it. But she could not forget the precious truth that was read to her from the book of Isaiah, chapter 53. Then came the day that she understood it clearly; she had personally found her Redeemer! Thank you all dear friends in many churches who send us to proclaim the Gospel to the Jew first and also to the Gentile.
A home Bible study in Brooklyn, NY needed my assistance as a driver. I have been happy to do all that I can; for, truthfully, this is an upward step for me after so many years of working with children in churches, serving food and cleaning tables at fellowships and carrying on with many other tasks that no one else ever wanted to do.
I have sensed that this is a new season of work, and almost all who come to this particular home gathering have welcomed me. Even some friends acclaim that they understand my Russian accent. It is much like a Polish accent, they say. Please pray that the Lord would bless and grant that His Word will be sown in hungry hearts.
“The Father raises up the dead, and makes them alive; even so the Son makes alive whom He wills… that all men should honor the Son, even as they honor the Father. He that honors not the Son honors not the Father which has sent Him” (John 5:21-23).
Your world around you needs your witness. We were born again for such a time as this! How much time do we have left before the second coming of Christ? We do not know. Let us share God’s Word and work, for “the night is coming” (John 9:4).
Many thanks to you all!
Love in Christ,
Anna Deikun
