Pray that God will fill the Slavic believers with a hunger for His Word: "Desire the sincere milk of the Word" (1 Peter 2:2), and a spirit of prayer: "Pray without ceasing" (1 Thessalonians 5:17). Ask God to call many young men and women to serve Him sacrificially and sincerely in places of leadership. Pray that some will choose to serve in other Slavic countries as missionaries. Intercede for the Christian leadership in Eastern Europe that they will withstand the powers of darkness and remain stable in their spiritual roles. |
God in His strength
Warm greetings in the Name that is above all names. We want to tell you about ministry plans regarding Israel. I almost dismissed the notion. But first let's catch up a bit.
An amazing divine appointment happened on this past Resurrection (Easter) morning. I'd just left a special service and was dropping off the last passenger. On the corner where Anatoly slid the van door open to depart, there was a young man standing there. He stepped up to the door saying, "I'm lost. Can you help me?"
For an evangelist, those are just the words that you want to hear! He was an Israeli by the name of Moshe (Moses). We had a short conversation about faith in Messiah. He gave me his cell phone number for future contact.
Now, jump ahead seven days to Marilyn's hometown in California. At a local restaurant there was a man across the aisle to which I had an opportunity to converse. He introduced himself as Maurice. He decided to come to Grace Bible Church to hear me speak.
During my message, I told everyone about my experience with Moshe. At the end, Maurice came up and told me his given name was Moisei (Moses in the Russian language).
This man was a self-avowed atheist. He came again to a Bible study that I was leading. The last I heard was that this atheist told believing friends that he needed "more faith." The Lord truly drew him in the right direction. Please pray for these two men named Moses. Both conversations were not by accident.
Meanwhile, back on the Brooklyn boardwalk, there have been a number of good contacts. One was with a couple: Solomon, a Russian Jewish lawyer and his wife, Joyce. They walked across the boardwalk just to hear my music.
When I told them that their names make a great combination (in the Bible Solomon is given great wisdom and that the name Joyce is associated with joy) we were then instant friends! Joyce asked probing questions that evoked my testimony. Both were very responsive to spiritual truth. It is so fulfilling to be at the right place at the right time when God wants you to meet the right people!
Sam was another interesting boardwalk acquaintance. He had emigrated from Russia to Israel and later to America. We found out that we were both born the same year and the same month, only seven days apart. He's going to Israel toward the end of August, which is when I plan to travel.
After having met these three Israelis, including others, I had begun to wonder if God was bringing Israel to me instead of me to Israel.
