clean the destroyed stuff out of his place and on to the street. Two other couples from Hope of Israel, lost cars to Sandy's waters and another lady had her apartment flooded. At church, I encouraged the folks to honor God by keeping their hope where it belongs according to Ps 121:1,2 "My help comes from the Lord" – don't look to politicians.
The opportunities for allowing Christ to work through us abound and often take us by surprise. About two months ago, I was contemplating which book of the Bible I should study, for messages to share with Hope of Israel. I planned on 1 Corinthians. But while meditating on it, 2 Timothy came so strongly to my mind that I willingly yielded to what I perceived to be the Holy Spirit's guidance, but sought confirmation.
Late that evening, actually after dark, I went to the park to exercise, which I almost never do. At one exercise station, I met a young man who was extremely hungry spiritually. After our talk, he said, "finally, I have found someone besides my aunt who knows about God. Could we meet together again, maybe for coffee?" He gave me his cell phone number and when I asked him what his name was, he said, "Tim!" 2 Timothy is Paul's final words to this disciple of his whom he affectionately referred to as his beloved son. On this same day God brought a Timothy to me who wanted to learn about God. Sometimes I am just astonished at the adventure of serving Jesus because you never know what to expect next, divine appointments and all! Pray for Tim.
A few days prior to the big storm, Marilyn went to Texas to help our younger daughter, Wendy, who was adjusting to motherhood with her and Evan's firstborn, Alana Jane. Yep, we're grandparents 3 times over. I plan to drive down to join them for Thanksgiving. After the holiday, Maril and I plan to drive up to Kansas City (Overland Park, KS) to visit Westbrooke Church on Sunday, December 2, morning service. I have also been invited to speak that same evening at Shawnee Baptist Church, Shawnee, KS. We'll be in the area for a short week. Area contact numbers are 913-268-3503 and 913-787-2140. My cell number is 908-456-4700.
Maril will fly back home after having been away for a month, but I will proceed to North Platte, Nebraska, to speak at the church I attended as a new believer, the Berean Church, on December 9th. Then after a brief visit in Broken Bow on Wednesday, the 12th, I head east toward the Big Apple.
Pray for travel mercy. What does Thanksgiving to God achieve? Psalm 69:30 says God is magnified by it. As a magnifying glass enlarges small print, so Thanksgiving enlarges God in our hearts. We are thankful that He and you work in concert to make this ministry possible. We wish you a very HAPPY THANKSGIVING before Him.
Lovingly, in His steps,
Steve & Marilyn Walden
