Pray that God will fill the Slavic believers with a hunger for His Word: "Desire the sincere milk of the Word" (1 Peter 2:2), and a spirit of prayer: "Pray without ceasing" (1 Thessalonians 5:17). Ask God to call many young men and women to serve Him sacrificially and sincerely in places of leadership. Pray that some will choose to serve in other Slavic countries as missionaries. Intercede for the Christian leadership in Eastern Europe that they will withstand the powers of darkness and remain stable in their spiritual roles. |
Jesus healed his mother-in-law (Mark 1:29-31). He helped Peter to catch some fish (Luke 5:1-11). He enabled him to walk on water (Matthew 14:22-33). He paid his temple tax (Matthew 17:24-27). And for future safety during His arrest, Jesus healed the ear of Malchus, a soldier physically harmed by Peter (John 18:10-11).
After His resurrection from the dead, Jesus gave Peter power to preach (Acts 2:14-41), to perform miracles (Acts 3:1-11) and to prove his position (Acts 5:1-11). Even when in prison awaiting death, Jesus was determined to protect His faithful disciple until his purpose of life would be fulfilled (Acts 12:1-19).
As Peter remembered all these exciting events, he nodded his head and penned this poignant phrase, "Casting all your cares upon Him, for He cares for you" (1 Peter 5:7). Peter experienced the exhilarating significance of this explicit promise!
As he rolled his burdens upon the Lord and believed, the unbearable pressure were lifted and relieved.
With shoulders back and head held high in the air, Peter was confident in character and conduct, because Jesus carried his load through every circumstance in his Christian career! And praise the Lord, this promise is "passed on" to us!
