Children and teens continue to be helped both physically and spiritually at the Transfiguration Center (Safe Harbor Ministry) in Bryansk, Russia. With the added ministry of reaching adults who are homeless and trapped in addictions with the good news of salvation and humanitarian aid, a kitchen and dining hall are extremely necessary in the center to assist these various outreaches both effectively and efficiently. (The center uses the kitchen and dining hall of the church at this time.)
Funds were raised last year to renovate the first floor of the center, which is used by the church. (The church has given the center permission to secure this part of the building and documents are now being formulated to include the first floor as part of the Transfiguration Center ministry.) The renovation plans also include two new rooms, which will be added to the second floor. Eventually, the center desires to include a rehabilitation program for those adults who are trapped in alcohol and drug abuse. Materials have been purchased, and the renovation will start this month. The completion of the kitchen and dining hall is slated for July. Volunteers from the church and center will assist in much of the labor and construction. Oksana Leonova (SMS missionary) and the staff of the Transfiguration Center praise God that the ministry is expanding and that they can be laborers "sent forth into His harvest" (Luke 10:2).
