Some of the missionaries of Slavic Missionary Service in Belarus have once again banded together to organized and conduct a conference in Borisov for the Christian youth of their country. Just like in October of 2011, the theme of the conference was "The Authority of the Scriptures." This second conference was held in February.
The purpose was to show the youth that every believer must read and study the Bible. In order to live the Christian life victoriously and effectively, its truth must be implemented into daily living.
Valera Beza, SMS missionary and pastor of the Slonim Bible Church, lead the events of the day that centered upon the Word of God. "For the word of God is living and active and sharper than any two-edged sword, and piercing as far as the division of soul and spirit, of both joints and marrow, and able to judge the thoughts and the intents of the heart" (Hebrews 4:12). Sergey Zhukovski, SMS Missionary and pastor of the Borisov Bible Church, was one of the main speakers. His message clearly stated that the Scriptures are extremely important to the structure and organization of the church.
Another one of the main speakers was Sergey Drozd, director of the missionaries of SMS in Belarus and the pastor of the Resurrection Church of Minsk. He spoke upon the Scriptures as being the best source for spiritual counseling and advice for the believers. The other main speakers included Sergey Lukyanov and Alexsey Prokopenko, a guest from Samara, Russia. Knowing how important this conference would be for young people, Victor Zaletilo, SMS missionary and pastor of the Evangelical Baptist Church of Vitebsk, also attended with some members of his youth group.
Approximately 220 young people, from many different cities in all six regions of Belarus, came to hear inspiring messages concerning the significance of the Scriptures. The Bible is sufficient for evangelization, and only through the study of this Living Book can one understand the message of salvation through the sacrificial death of Jesus Christ. "And there is salvation in no one else; for there is no other name under heaven that has been given among men, by which we must be saved" (Acts 4:12). Many young people communicated that the conference increased their confidence in the Christian life and assured them that the Bible can assist in any problem or troubling circumstance. "I have written to you, young men, because you are strong, and the word of God abides in you, and you have overcome the evil one" (1 John 2:14).
