It is with a heavy heart that we share the news of the home going of Jim Leonovich, SMS Director of Media, husband of SMS missionary Ann Leonovich and brother of Christina Leonovich Spillar. His passing was quite sudden after a hospital stay of only a few days. He is now at peace with his parents, Nick and Rose Leonovich, and other loved ones who have gone before him. Jim had just celebrated his 64th birthday this past December.
Jim was involved in ministry to the Slavic world since 1979. He evolved from being an engineer behind the scenes producing short wave radio programs aired into the Soviet Union, to being behind the pulpit preaching the Gospel in churches at home and abroad in the former Soviet Union...
The command of Jesus Christ to the Christian is to make disciples! Converts to Christianity must be taught to practice the principles of Christianity. The Apostle Paul never left his converts without continued care. “And when they had preached the gospel to that city, and had made many disciples, they returned to Lystra, and to Iconium, and to Antioch, confirming the souls of the disciples, exhorting them to continue in the faith, and that through many tribulations we must enter the kingdom of God” (Acts 14:21-22).

Unless your religion is worth passing on to others, it isn’t worth anything at all to you. Disciples of Jesus Christ, claiming that His perfect sacrifice at Calvary is the means of eternal salvation, surely have something to share to mankind. The world cannot be won to Christ just by preaching the Gospel from the pulpit in a church. Genu- ine believers must venture into the world in various places and professions to propagate the Good News.
